I think you need to read your post again. You said “we don’t need to be told not to do things at home...” and I gave you a clear example that you do. When a network has to title a show “Don’t Try This at Home”, it can’t be more straight forward that they are trying to tell people not to try these things at home. How are you not getting this?
Friend, most countries don't have such a litigious culture (and legislative apparatus to enable said lawsuits) as America does.
