[accessories] D&H 5.56 30 Round Aluminum Magazine $6.99
[Handgun] Sig Sauer P365 (with XRAY3 Night Sights) - $499
I have the 5” as my first gun. Really good to my untrained hand and this is a great price for the black, usually the only deals are on FDE or bitones.
Negative on the full size FDE in 9mm.
I’d have thrown my credit card thru the screen to order one up.
Man I saw a lot the past few weeks (not here), and several had threaded barrels.
Yeah forgot about those. I’d have bought one of those but then I’d have to drop another $300 or so on normal height sights and a new barrel. All that shit on a pistol that will never see a suppressor is unsightly and unnecessary.
They also made regular FDE full size ones in .45 if I remember correctly. So, subcompact FDE in 9mm, suppressor ready FDE in 9mm and .45 in FDE. None of which I want even tho I already went with the subcompact which I never use.
That's what I hate about the XD. Local shop has a great deal on one of the "match pistol" 5" guns, I love how it fits in my hand and points naturally, but I have the nagging sensation that Springfield isn't a great company and I hate grip safeties.
Don't worry these pistols are not manufactured by Sprinfield Armory. They are manufactured by HS Produkt in Croatia. Springfield just paid HS Produkt a licensing fee to put their name on them and be the sole supplier in the US. Present day "Springfield" is not the same Springfield Armory that was established under George Washington. They went out of business 1968.
The originals were all HS Produkt, the Mod 2’s apparently are more of a collaboration so SA had much more input into the design. Still manufactured in Croatia though.
Can attest that they are basically tanks and eat everything. Their latest two models are advertised as undergoing 50,000 and 10,000 round malfunction-free torture tests, and the single stack took direct aim at the P365 with the slogan “capacity never trumps reliability.”
HS2000 was a great tried and true pistol. I have no problem, with the fact that these pistols are a rebranded pistol. Unfotunatly, I don't care to drink the kool-aid that Springfield has anything to do with development or design other than cosmetics. That is the purpose of a licensing agreement. Great marketing department and it seems their P.R. department may be equally adept as they may whitewash thier recent political FFL licensing scheme with anti-gun legislators. Springfield CEO Dennis Reese is snake, plain and simple. I'm all for capitolism but scheming with anti-gun lobbyists to create a back-door ban on selling firearms at gunshows and small gunshops is, to me, unacceptable as well as most 2a proponents. That being said, HS Produkt makes a good product. I'm not here to judge anyone for supporting Springfield Inc. Just know some history and who you are supporting.
Springfield only changed their anti-2a support after a backlash from consumers. They were on board until it hurt thier pocketbook. Trust them if you want but as long as Dennis Reese is at the helm Springfield will not get another dollar from me.
If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.
This gun is a tack driver. Trigger isn't the best, ergos aren't the best, size isn't the best, it's not all that light, there is nothing at all that absolutely stands out about the gun but it just plain shoots great.
Maybe you're just a really good shot!
Nah. I can second this. It's my most accurate gun, and outperforms me tbh
I don’t know, the GRIP ZONE!!! stands out pretty well to me. That being said, they definitely are solid guns. I have a crapload of rounds through my 1st gen XD. I had thought of myself as a Sig convert and done with SA, and then they had to go release a bloody 10mm XDm. That I’ll probably buy, because my yet-to-be-born children will probably be driving by the time we get a 10mm P320.
But muh GRIP ZONE!
In all seriousness I have one and love it. It’s not perfect but it’s reliable and shoots well. If you hate Springfield for the political stuff though I get that. I bought mine before I knew about it and admittedly would hesitate to buy anything else of theirs. But y’all do you. This is a damn good deal.
What kind of candy?
this vs glock 19?
For carry and modability go with the 19. It’s slighlty smaller overall and always an excellent choice no matter the role.
For home defense, range gun or carry if you’re big enough, go with the XD. It’s not the popular choice due to Glock fanboyism and people who’ve never shot them, Springfield’s recent business choices and GRIPZONE but my XD and XD Mod.2 are way more comfortable to shoot than my buddies G19 or my G22. Everyone’s hands are different so it helps to hold both.
This XD will come with 5 mags instead of 3, better fiber optic sights out the box and will cost less than a new G19. Again, both are good choices in my book.
I own both. Since everyone has different, Let me give you some ideas from my perspective -
Glock: light, reliable, can take a beating and easy to maintain. No extra features, even front serrated versions costs more. Awful factory sights. I was lucky to get a LEO version. Dominant Aftermarket support. Ok trigger and accuracy. Light double stacked pistol for carry purposes.
Springfield: right now it’s cheaper than Glock. It comes with standard fiber optic front sight, Gripzone is comfy, extra safety features - grip safety, 2 loaded chamber indicators, front and back serrations. Right now you can get total of 5 mags which includes the rebate program.m compared to Glocks 3 mags, Trigger is ok. Aftermarket support is limited. 6-7ozs heavier compared to Glock. Gripzone is a turnoff for some, but not a problem for me because when I’m holding it my grip covers it. And then there’s the political crap.
Try out both if you can and then decide.
Have they changed the triggers? I remember not liking how much take-up there was, even on their match model.
Idk but the mod 2 trigger is pretty good in my opinion for a striker fired pistol. One of the better ones that I've touched (stock) personally
(I ccw this exact pistol)
This or the VP9SK? They are so damn close its making it impossible for me to choose. I’m favoring the HK because it’s ambi and I am southpaw
Go with the HK. Or else you will be disappointed
Vp9, full size. Love me some HK, but the SK just is too heavy for it's purpose of being a small gun. I wanted to get a SK to replace my shield for deep conceal, but it just is too much.
It depends on what you want it for. This XD is more of a full size pistol and the VP9SK is a sub compact.
I own the XD Mod2 and my brother owns the VP9 and the VP9SK. The VP9SK is a great gun but obviously costs more. If you want more of a range gun I would recommend the regular VP9. Again, more expensive but you’re getting what you pay for.
Why are all the “grip zone” comments being downvoted to eternity?
G R I P Z O N E
Is the reset on this trigger still bigger than the Grand Canyon? I shot an XDS last year and it was the worst trigger I’ve ever used on a handgun.
Last year’s XDS trigger is nothing like the Mod 2. XDS trigger is heavy and has a decent amount of stacking near the end. Mod 2 is far lighter and the reset is crisp but not a hard snap like the XDS, if a tad long.
This is the other deciding factor for me between getting this and the VP9SK. But if it’s a simple matter of just replacing the trigger with an aftermarket one then I might go the XD route.
I just don’t know they both seem really fun.
I EDC a VP9SKLE. There is no comparison between the two.
Thanks, sounds like I’m off to get a VP9SK!
What is the difference between the ask and SK LE? Night sights?
Tritium night sights and an extra 10rd mag with the pinky extension.
Great, thank you for your time! I’m off to find that kit for a decent price now.
I’m seeing around $630 for the LE, would you consider that reasonable or should I hold out for a sale?
I got mine for 599 if memory serves and it was during the HK mag promo so I also got another mag for it.
Not the sk, but this is where I bought mine a few weeks ago. $500 with maybe $20 shipping. I actually don't like the LE. I had a full size LE and the night sights were hard to pick up in the day time. The extra mag is nice, but I recommend getting a 15rd mag and a grip sleeve from HKparts. Absolutely an awesome setup. Shoots flatter than my full size.
This pistol changed my life. I used to hold a pistol with one hand on the dust cover and one on the slide and pull the trigger with my pinky. Made for real tough days at the range. Then I get this bad boy. . . "GRIP ZONE!" Major "ah ha" moment. I get it now.
Thank you Springfield.
Sorry, "grip zone" fanboys. Lol.
