Iraq’s Top Cleric Is Becoming Its Political Savior
Syrian War Daily – 22nd of October 2018
Assad's strategic use of ISIL made his victory in Syria possible
I haven’t been paying as much attention to SCW much in the past couple months, but the speed at which the SAA has been moving on this front is insane. Will this end in green busses to Idlib or will that not be an option since Idlib is next?
The Southern Front has always been uncoordinated and just numerically too insignificant after their failed attempt to take Daraa city to stand up against a real offensive. Of course the government couldn't dedicate an offensive to this area while Aleppo city was still split up, Deir Ezzor under siege, and sections of the capital under rebel control.
Southern Front has been mocked for their inability to achieve anything for years. They're the weakest part of the opposition and that's paradoxically also the reason why they've survived for so long
So then it looks like green insurgents lost the entire Syrian-Jordanian border in Daraa because the small bit left not under SAA control yet in the far west is under ISIL/JKW.
