Of course, they don’t have anything in a region with several Western and permanent American bases.
Did anyone doubt this?
I remember reading somewhere that they would also be opening or taking over/upgrading an Airbase just outside Damascus?
This was a few months back?
There was a lot of talk during 2016/17 that they will take T-4 Air Base due to its position in the middle of Syria from which they can cover the whole Syria with radars and stuff too but I guess it would be still risky for the near future.
Could well have been this. Thank you. I think on down the line in a few years they could possibly establish more Airbases. After the War is over.
They were offered a separate military airbase and dock quite a while ago. They turned both down and decided to simply renovate what they have in Tartus and keep the current airbase for dual use between themselves and some civilian stuff.
Maybe they will grab a separate airbase later on, but it is incredibly doubtful.
